Owners' requirements

As an owner, your main requirement is to maximise the return on your investment — and that is exactly what GPweb does for you. On one hand it gives you detailed information about the (financial) performance of the system, and whether there are deviations from the performance you should expect. On the other hand, it lets you track any work that needs doing. That sounds more like a tool for the maintenance people — which it is — but it has a direct impact on the financial side: every problem is tracked, so nothing is forgotten, and you can actually see how well the maintenance people deal with the issues.

One of the biggest features is the reporting of anything that affects production — DEDDIE curtailments, defects, degradation. That gives you the data you need to make decisions.

DEDDIE curtailment has an upper limit by law. With GPweb you can track whether that limit has been exceeded, with measured data as proof of what happened.

Operators' requirements

Operators can do a much better job serving owners with all the data and reports GPweb provides (see above). GPweb gives you a competitive advantage, because you can give owners more information. At the same time it helps you work more efficiently, with a built-in O&M system to track all work, work reports and the rest.

What you actually see

Production, live and historical, per inverter — not a single plant total that hides the string that stopped working in March. Measured against what the plant should have produced, so the gap is visible rather than implied.

And every loss is attributed to a cause: a curtailment instruction from the grid operator, an inverter fault, a communications outage. You get an account of the year rather than a list of alarms — which is what you need when the question is whether the plant is performing against the numbers it was financed on.

If the grid operator controls your plant

Above 400 kW, DEDDIE requires a remote-control interface and will curtail your plant through it. That curtailment is capped — and the cap is counted in the value of the energy, not the hours it lasted.

We measure what was curtailed and what it was worth. Most owners want to know — and without measuring it, all anyone has is a suspicion.

Batteries, and getting more out of them

If you have storage, or are considering it, the same GPweb controller can run it: charge and discharge control, self-consumption, and the net-metering or net-billing side of the arrangement. The legislation for this is still developing, but GPweb is already ready for it.

On a plant that also has DEDDIE obligations, that matters more than it sounds: the optimiser and the compliance layer are the same box, so they cannot disagree about what the plant is allowed to do.
